Literature in the Tees Valley

Welcome to Lit Tees

This website has been developed by New Writing North as part of the Tees Valley Writers and Publishers Project, a development scheme which ran from 2005-2008. One of the aims of the project was to find new ways to profile and promote writers and publishers and all of the other great literary activity that takes place in the area and this site is the outcome.

Here you can find information on writers who live and work in the area, small publishers who publish books here, live literature events and readings, writing workshops and courses, book clubs and some general advice on where to look for support when you are starting to write.

You can also add your own information and links by sending us news items and listings of events. The more info you send, the more useful this site will be. If you are a writer or a publisher you can also apply to publish information about yourself on this site, just click through to the relevant sections.

New writing group in Blackhall

A new writing group has set up at Blackhall library to provide people who are interested in writing with a venue to share feedback, gain new skills and learn about writing opportunities.

Blackhall Writers are a new group who meet at Blackhall Library every last Monday of the Month (excluding bank holidays). We meet from 5pm until 7pm. Refreshments are available on arrival courtesy of the library. There are no joining fees and no monthly subs. The group was set up to provide local people with an opportunity to get together with like minded people, to share their work and receive positive feedback, to learn new writing skills and to find out about writing opportunities and competitions. For further information you can contact Chris Robinson on 0750 1117919 or crobinson59@ymail.com.
